Background:
Three German software companies have launched a new end-to-end ecommerce solution that keeps all data and digital processes within Europe, offering online retailers greater control over their information.
Cloud provider STACKIT, ecommerce platform provider Empiriecom, and IT service firm Adesso jointly unveiled the German Digital Commerce Operation Model. The solution ensures that all customer data and shop operations remain in Germany and Austria, fully aligned with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The companies said the move responds to growing concerns around data security, legal compliance and geopolitical risks. Many online retailers are now looking to reduce dependence on international technology providers such as Amazon, Shopify, and Google Cloud. Instead, they prefer Europe-based systems that allow them to keep full control of their data.
Empiriecom Managing Director Ralf Männlein said the partnership offers a secure and reliable alternative to global hyperscalers. He added that the solution meets the rising demand for strong data protection, stable performance, and compliance with European laws in digital commerce.
The new ecosystem combines the strengths of all three partners. STACKIT provides cloud infrastructure and hosts all applications and data exclusively in Germany and Austria. Its zero-access security policy ensures that customers retain full data sovereignty at all times.
Adesso uses its e-commerce experience to customize the system for each business’s model and operations. The company supports retailers in integrating the solution into their existing digital processes.
Empiriecom supplies the e-commerce platform, which can adapt to different markets, sales channels, and business structures. The platform supports multi-shop and omnichannel operations and is already used by companies with annual revenues of more than €400 million.
The companies said the solution aims to support European retailers seeking long-term, secure, and legally compliant e-commerce growth.
