Background:
Qlik has announced plans to invest USD $1.5 billion in Europe over the next five years, while becoming a launch partner for the AWS European Sovereign Cloud. The company also revealed a new advanced analytics feature through its Qlik Answers product, designed to provide a unified interface for querying both structured data and documents.
The data analytics company said all its products, including data integration, data quality, and analytics tools, will run on the AWS European Sovereign Cloud. This cloud will operate independently in the EU, keeping data within the region and under strict control. AWS staff in Europe will handle daily operations, support, and data center access, while customers remain in control of their data.
Qlik will mirror this approach, with its European staff handling operations, support, and customer service for tenants on the sovereign cloud. Customers will also be able to manage encryption keys in line with internal policies and EU regulations. The company plans to strengthen its European compliance by aiming for certifications in Germany, France, Italy, and international quality standards by 2026.
Alongside its cloud plans, Qlik launched a feature called Qlik Answers. It lets users ask questions and get answers with charts and clear explanations. The tool also supports teamwork, tracks data sources, and works smoothly within Qlik Cloud.
Qlik is also developing its Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, which will enable external assistants to connect to Qlik’s analytics platform securely. The private preview of Qlik Answers lets organizations try features like teamwork, combined text and chart results, and an in-app assistant. It will be fully available in early 2026.
Mike Capone, CEO of Qlik, said this move helps European organizations use advanced analytics while keeping full control of their data. The company is showcasing both its sovereign cloud plans and the new analytics features at this year’s AWS re: Invent conference, with broader regional deployment planned from 2026.
