Background :

AIT Home Delivery, a subsidiary of AIT Worldwide Logistics, has made strong early progress in Germany, just 10 months after launching its two-person next day delivery service in the country.

The company has secured a number of major customer contracts and built a state-of-the-art warehousing and distribution operation in Hannover, extending next day coverage to 94 percent of Germany’s key population centres.

The expansion builds on AIT’s established two-person delivery model, which reshaped the UK home delivery sector through flexible options such as nominated day delivery, room-of-choice delivery, installation, assembly and packaging removal.

Gary McKelvey, AIT’s Vice President of Global Home Delivery, said Germany stood out among several European markets due to its strong road network, concentrated population centres and position as Europe’s largest economy.

He added that Germany’s fast-growing e-commerce market and its similarities to the UK’s online retail landscape made it an especially attractive choice.

AIT’s service includes four-hour delivery slots, real-time communication and a range of value-added options, which McKelvey said align closely with German consumers’ expectations around quality, reliability and control.

Supporting the operation is AIT’s Hannover facility, offering approximately 9,000 pallet spaces and functioning as a central hub for storage, order fulfilment and final-mile delivery.

McKelvey said Germany represents more than a single market opportunity, describing it as a strategic platform for long-term European growth, with the country’s central location offering access to neighbouring markets such as Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Ryan Carter, AIT’s Executive Vice President of Global Operations, said the company’s fast, flexible service positions it to help retailers strengthen brand loyalty as AIT continues expanding its European network.
