  • Marqeta provides card issuing and embedded financial services technology, processing nearly $400 billion in annual payment volume during 2025.
  • Expensify is a spend management software platform trusted by more than 15 million users worldwide for expense management, travel and corporate cards.

Background

The financial technology company Marqeta Inc. has extended its collaboration with the spend management software company Expensify in the UK and the European Union to enable companies in this region to get corporate card offerings from Expensify.

This is an extension of their partnership in the US region and is done to satisfy the demand for automation of expense management in Europe.

By utilizing the card issuance platform from Marqeta that enables multinational operations, Expensify will be offering physical, virtual, and tokenized corporate cards to companies of all sizes for use in various applications, such as business travel, payment of vendors, and spending by departments.

The platform also enables setting spending limits on individual users, transaction approvals in real-time, and spending insights for the company. These features are designed to improve cash flow management and help organisations allocate budgets more effectively.

Marqeta said its card issuing capabilities simplify international expansion by supporting businesses as they launch payment programmes across multiple markets. The company added that the platform offers flexibility and control that help customers manage complex global operations more efficiently.

Expensify said the expanded partnership enables it to provide European customers with the same expense management tools already available to its users in the United States. The company expects the launch to support businesses looking for simpler and more automated ways to manage corporate expenses.

This expansion helps both companies make a stronger footprint in Europe, since the appetite for digital financial services and modern corporate payment solutions keeps on growing.
